Montreal native Donna McCarthy worked at Chiat Day, Taxi, Bensimon Byrne and Target Marketing in Newfoundland before opening Dory Advertising in 2004. Her agency’s client list includes Sobeys, Memorial University and Oxfam. The creative director has amassed a string of awards and accolades in her career, including six Cannes Lions and Best of Show honours at Ice Awards, Crystals, Marketing Awards and London International awards. A judge at the 2010 Cassies in Canada, she spends most of her time in Halifax. She spoke with the Financial Post’s Hollie Shaw about how the Internet has irrevocably changed the advertising business.

Dory Ads wins Gold and Silver at 25th Annual London International Awards

The 25th LIA judging was held at the Wynn/Encore Hotel in Las Vegas, convening over a ten-day period. The juries, led by their respective Jury Presidents, viewed and scored every entry within their medium ensuring that all the work is judged equally. They concluded with final discussions to determine Grand LIAs, Statue Winners and Finalists.

This year, 13 companies in Canada were recognised for their superior entries winning a total of 19 Statues at the 2010 London International Awards.

Dory Advertising, St John’s was honoured with the only Gold Statue in Canada. Dory won one Gold Statue and one Silver Statue:
